"I bow to be thankful for the sight of beautiful wildflowers that are always present."

My first work from home day went smoothly. I noticed how cold it can get near the windows. Something to keep in mind when I go ahead with the renovation. It was also my first day as a homeowner to witness city taking care of my garbage. The city's website has a terrible search engine algorithm, but had a clear instruction on how to prepare for the garbage pick up day.

On a physical activity front, since it was my rest day, I did not want to put too much pressure on my body. I just walked around the neighbourhood, and tried out a famous sandwich shop nearby. Although, the weather was brutal, the walk was much needed and refreshing.

I think maintaining and living in the house alone require more physical labour compared to a condo life, so I think I will be in a better shape later on. Especially the winter shovel season.

"I bow to be thankful as I breathe in fresh air."

Working out in the morning can be really refreshing. Although we may not be able to lift as heavy as we would in our evening session. Since I am easing into my old routine, I stuck with lighter weight, but more repetitions.

I noticed that I have a greater optimism than usual today, which I enjoyed. However, as I drove through rush hour traffic to pick up a cheque across town after work, the office was closed early due to a special event. At first, I felt devastated, but I sensed that I might be going down the path I was in few weeks ago (which resulted in series of misfortunes) so I tried to be indifferent about the situation.

Then I decided to stop by at the grocery store in my new neighbourhood. As I was turning in the underground parking garage, I was too close to the curb and scratched my front bumper a little. Obviously it sucked, but I knew better. I did not care. In fact, it reminded me that I own this vehicle, not the other way around. Hence, I must control my mood and not let the scratch on my vehicle control my mood. That was a great solution, and I was not stressed nor worried one bit.

This was one of the few examples where buddhist teachings came into practice. I think I have a better understanding of how to be happy.

"I bow to be refreshed by the feeling of cool breeze."

I am getting used to the walking commute again, but I think I need to involve some sort of activity during that time. It is nearly 2 hours of my day that I can tap into and free up my evening. Walking to meditate is certainly nice, but 2 hours can be a bit inefficient.

I told myself that I would take things slow for remainder of the week, but I caught myself trying to fill the time. I spent most of my evening deep cleaning the house, and discussed some possible plans with the new house with a friend. However, I unwinded by reading a book, talking to my girlfriend, and being in the present moment without worrying about the future.

I truly feel like all my suffering is derived from worrying about the future, and thinking about my past decisions. Once I free myself from them I feel at ease.
