What is 108 Challenge?

Inspired by the famous 75 Hard Challenge, we wanted to build a challenge designed to ingrain healthy habits and lifestyle by staying consistent over x amount of days.

There are no fixed agenda, but we think it will be highly effective to include the following: physical activity, sufficient water intake, educate, and produce.

Reading and listening to educational materials are great, but they become meaningless if we never take action to produce something with the knowledge derived from those activities (e.g. writing a blog, or producing a short film).

WHY 108 DAYS? IS THERE A SPECIAL MEANING BEHIND THE NUMBER 108?

If you were looking for a scientific reasoning behind, I am sorry I do not have that for you.

First, I wanted to make the challenge period longer than 75. Anything shorter would not be enough to embrace the routine for a lifetime.

Then I recalled in the Korean Buddhist community, we often bow 108 times as a meditative practice to offset 108 possible ways to suffer. Just like in any religion, each temple may have different interpretation, but generally the reasoning behind is:

There are 6 body parts that we suffer with: eyes, ears, skin, nose, tongue, and mind.

From those we can suffer with: what we see, hear, feel, smell, taste, and think about.

Lastly, there are 3 timelines we suffer in: the past, the present, and the future.

This makes 108 (=6x6x3) possible combinations of suffering.

The 108 prayers each come with a reason we pray/bow for, and I include each prayer to my 108 Challenge blog.
